Home Sweet Home

The long awaited and much anticipated home study is complete!  We cleaned, spruced, rearranged and painstakingly created a vision straight out of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  You could honestly eat off of any surface in the house!  Overboard?  For sure!  But there are no do-overs so we were bound and determined to impress.  After weeks and weeks of anticipation the day finally arrived.  We began by meeting my parents for some early breakfast and to calm our (mostly my) nerves.  We were home in time to do a once over and relax for a few minutes before Marcy's arrival.  With the dogs both securely crated to postpone the inevitable excitement my husband welcomed Marcy into our home.  She tells us she loves the house and immediately I am grinning inside and out.  Now the moment of truth.  Our dogs LOVE people.  They get so excited when new people come over.  They just want all of their attention and belly rubs and settle for nothing less.  Honestly they react just like any dog would only they are 50 pounds each so anyone who is not a dog lover is often less than appreciative.  We ask Marcy if she is okay with us letting them up and she loves dogs so we are relieved but still nervous.  Hubby goes down and lets them both out and I can hear them bounding up the stairs in excitement.  And then the unthinkable happened.  They walked up, sniffed her and went and relaxed in their respective corners.  WHAT!?  Did that really just happen?  They could have cared less and we could not have been more proud!  We sit down at the kitchen table to exchange paperwork followed by our individual interviews.  She asked to see the nursery and made sure it had a window, closet and working smoke detector.  Around 2.5 hours later we are done.  We agree to meet for the final time in two weeks and that's it!  Exhale ...
It's funny how your body knows you are stressed even when you are in complete denial.  No more than an hour after Marcy left did a monster 24 hour migraine arrive.  Honestly I wasn't too terribly shocked as this has historically been my body's release after I am no longer stressed out.  While that is my logical explanation I prefer to call it my Nastia Liukin sympathy migraine.  If you watched the final night of Women's Gymnastics Olympic trials you know what I mean.  That was hard to watch.  Enough babbling for now.   Off to bed for this exhaused mama to be.
