Hurricane Luke

Sometimes it's way more fun just watching him have fun.
So I did.
And this happened.

Big Boy Room

As many of you know we thought we would be needing the nursery back in March so Luke got promoted to a big boy room.  It has been a work in progress but I think we are finally there.
We began with a dresser we already had ...
And we added a dresser top changer found on Craigslist for just $10
And a few coats of paint
Some painted frames from the thrift store
And a wedding gift that no longer matched our decor
Mix in a crib and bedding set from Craigslist, some scrapbook paper, a hand me down rug and rocker and you get ...
We found the same crib as the one in the nursery
And Daddy's rocking horse made by his Daddy
The Rocker Grandma bought when Auntie Wole was born
 His chalkboard closet doors
Our changing station with IKEA stand to hold his cloth diapers
 The repurposed dresser!
Artwork made by Mommy with scrapbook paper
More of Mommy's artwork.
This guy loves his new room :)

Last Sleep

Tonight is Luke's last sleep before turning one tomorrow.
I got pretty emotional rocking him to sleep tonight.
Wow how life has changed in the last year.  We could not be happier or more blessed.
Enjoy a brief year in review :)

Brave Love

Our miracle turns one in two days.
I am so emotional and trying hard to wrap my head around it.
While out running errands today picking up random items for his party tomorrow I saw his birth mother.
I did not approach her as we have had little contact by her choosing and I didn't want to make her uncomfortable.  But I love her so much.  I just stood for a moment and admired the beauty of it all.  I reflected on our last emotional exchange the day she voluntarily terminated her rights so that Lucas could be ours forever.  I so wish I could have hugged her today like I did that day.  Instead I walked to my car bursting with love.  And this was playing on the radio when I got in.
I cannot even tell you.  I cried ... hard.

Nine Days

I cannot believe this little man is going to be one in only nine days.  Where has the time gone?!
It's been a long time since I've posted so here's a bit of what we've been up to ...
Trying new foods ...
Insisting on eating like a grown up
 Stealing Mommy's smoothies
Getting used to the grass (one leg up)
Having play dates with friends
Doing chores
Attending parties
Enjoying the sunshine
Taking walks to get sorbet
Experiencing thunder for the first time
Climbing
Seeing elephants at the zoo
Appreciating good literature
Continuing to be blessed with donor milk
And getting a jump start on drivers ed
Phew ... more naps please!
Stay tuned for more summer adventures as a one year old :)
