Lucas is Blessed!

I think it's pretty safe to say that Lucas has more admirers than just mom and dad :)
He has had some incredibly awesome and thought gifts trickle in over the past few weeks that we can't wait to share with all of you!
We received this book from a coworker of Grandma's who is also an adoptive parent.  I sat down to read it on Gotcha Day evening and cried my eyes out.  It is such a sweet story explaining adoption and we are so lucky to have it to read to Lucas as he grows.
I found this extra special book tucked away between our side doors ... sneaky UPS driver!  It's from one of my coworkers and it was made especially for Lucas!  How cool is that?!
The book has a special dedication to Lucas and goes on to spell his first and last name letter by letter!
Today we had our first shower to welcome Lucas thrown by my amazing coworkers whom I haven't seen in forever!  I was so excited for them to meet Lucas and boy did they spoil him!!  Look at all those books :)
We stopped by to see Don's cousins on our way to the shower and they gave Lucas this HUGE basket full of super fun developmental toys that we cannot wait to use.
They have little Noah's seal of approval so we know Luke is going to love them all.
And it doesn't get more perfect than this!  The frame and picture just say it all.  I LOVE this little man!
We are back home unpacking the nursery and working through the colic stage with Lucas and he is always super happy when on his changing table.  Odd but we are open to whatever works.  It's not safe to leave him up there so I thought why not move the changing pad to the floor?  Worked like a charm and kept him smiling and cooing for nearly an hour.  I forgot to put the changing pad back when we were finished and look who found it and also finds it incredibly comfortable ...
We are so thankful for all the blessings in our life and we consider all of you to be blessings.  Thank you for supporting us and welcoming Lucas into the family with more love than we could ever have imagined.

Our Child of God

Our Blessed gift from Heaven was baptized today ...
At the same church where his Mommy was baptized
Wearing the same baptismal gown as Mommy
Which belonged to his great-great Grandpa
Over 100 years ago
What a blessed day :)

One Month

On Thursday the most amazing woman my husband and I have ever met voluntarily terminated her parental rights so that Lucas could remain our son forever.  There are absolutely no words that can begin to express what she will always mean to us.  I cannot believe this is our life!
In our first month we have learned so much from this little man.  He has the best personality and leaves no question as to what he likes or dislikes.  For example ...
Naked is where it's at ... at all times ... no matter what.  Good thing he was a summer baby and shame he has so many outfits that will never be worn!
The middle of the night is the best time for playtime ... naked again obviously.
Mom and Dad noticed I always had my head turned to my right but thanks to my awesome chiropractor look at me ... turned to the left all by myself ... woot woot!  (and naked)
The MamaRoo is his favorite content space (mostly when the vacuum is running) and Bunny is his best friend.  You can never go wrong with this combo.
I've watched the Tour de France every day with Dad and we are a little worried his first word might be with a British accent ;)
We had to try multiple formulas before we found one that met the approval of his refined pallet and during the inconsolable moments of the loser formulas this is the only way he would sleep <3
I cannot wrap my head around how blessed we are.  How one amazing woman has healed our hearts in ways we never imagined were possible.  She is our super hero.  This is our life and its better than anything we could have ever imagined.

Adoption Rummage

We are having one last rummage this Saturday in Lake Geneva.
With a good turn out we have the potential to fully fund our adoption of little Lucas.
How can you say no to this face?!
The rummage is located on Connie Circle in Lake Geneva ... we are planning to open around 9am and yes Lucas will be making an appearance.
We have loads of household items, furniture, clothing, baby items and more.
Hope to see you there!

Wide awake

We have been very fortunate that Lucas is often alert and content making faces, cooing noises and just playing with mom and dad.  Lucky for him and us, mommy always has the camera close by.  Enjoy!
I am perhaps a bit biased but isn't he just the cutest??

Mommy

Yep ... that's me.  I am a mommy.  Holy smokes right?!?!
Motherhood is everything I always thought it would be and more.
Lucas is a wonderful baby.  He sleeps for 3 plus hours at a time and only cries when we can't get him his bottle fast enough.  Can't really count that one because its our bad right?  I mean what kind of parents cant anticipate ahead of time when a bottle is needed lol.
Mom and the giraffe on his nursery wall have both been peed on.  Diaper changes are lightning fast now!
He has only really spit up once but it was like a volcano and every single drop landed on Bella.  Such a tolerant puppy.
Our most laughable parenting moment to date involves getting so excited about a hot shower that I got in without first getting undressed.  Don't worry ... I played it off as a purposeful experiment.  Combining Laundry and showering to save both time and money.  That being said I am probably going to stick to doing them separate.
I will do my best to continue to blog as Lucas allows but don't forget the daily pictures on the Don and Amanda Adopt Facebook page!
