A week of firsts

Warning: The real life of a stay at home mom is spelled out in pictures below.  It is pretty gross so please consider yourself warned.
We have started off 2014 with a real bang!  Three firsts in one week and none of them are the kind you generally brag to your friends about.
The first one ...
Brown boats in the bathtub.  I suppose I should be happy we made it nearly 7 months without this pleasure but just yuck.  Lucas on the other hand thought it was hilarious.
The second ...
The other half of this production was all over me.  I have never felt so bad for this little guy.  Luckily this only lasted one full night.  And just as the on call pediatrician warned,
The third ...
The vomiting would switch to diarrhea before the flu bug left us for good.  This was actually his second complete blow out.  The first was in a cloth diaper.  The very first cloth diaper we have ever used might I add.  Can you imagine?  Not being able to just roll it up and throw it away?  And to make matters worse the diapers were all lent to us with not a stain on them.  No pressure.
Never in a million years would I have believed the stains to come out.  But after rinsing, hand washing, machine washing and hanging outside they both look brand new ... woot woot!!
This mama has been bodily fluided out!!
Safe to say we are back to disposables until this bug clears out.
If you made it through the entire post without gagging ... congrats you either have what it takes to be a mommy or you already are one :)

  1. We learned a trick from Children's Hospital when Claire was admitted there for a few nights when she was little. When the bug progressed to the diarrhea part was to use two diapers. Say, if he's in a size 2, use a size 2 right on him, and put a size 3 over that. It decreases some blow outs, but some will still get all over.
